Positioning Tourism Sites in Bandar Abbas in order to Make Tourist Sites %K Tourism positioning %K tourism projects %K Urban Planning %K Bandar Abbas city %R 10.22059/jut.2014.53160 %X The present study investigate the positioning of tourism sites in Bandar Abbas in order to create tourism places using hierarchical analysis and Geographical Information System (GIS) and exploring the geographical layers of Bandar Abbas. The study aims to determine potential locations for tourism projects with regard to the existing criteria and information layers in the planning process of Bandar Abbas. For positioning the tourism sites of Bandar Abbas coastal areas, tourism facilities and existing hotels, transportation system, existing parks, plus the value of each of these factors have been evaluated and considered. The type of the study is applied. The methodology of the study is -descriptive-analytical. Finally, by employing the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) model, the appropriate positioning was performed in order to build tourism destination. Then, by the performed analysis using GIS, the most potential spots and the least potential spots were determined close to the beach and far from the beach, respectively. However, a more appropriate positioning would require more precise standards for decision-making and planning urban tourism. The major challenge in the management of urban tourism in Bandar Abbas is the lack of standards and criteria for the establishment of tourism sites. This requires an appropriate organizational structure and management as well as a hierarchy of activity planning towards sustainable development of tourism in compliance with the entire standard. %U https://jut.ut.ac.ir/article_53160_2bd671d138775d2c8e796816d7421e6b.pdf
